Ever since his debut as soloist with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Simon Bång has been regularly engaged as a soloist and chamber musician at such prestigious venues as the Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen, Shanghai City Theatre, Malmö Concert Hall, Palladium Malmö and the Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre. He can also be seen as conductor with the Malmö Sinfonietta and the New Lund Chamber Orchestra.
At 17 years of age, Simon began cello studies at the Malmö Academy of Music with professors Mats Rondin and Hege Waldeland, and he has continued his studies as a conductor at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Simon has also studied cello with such eminent figures as Frans Helmerson, Erling Bløndal-Bengtsson, Truls Mørk, Mats Lidström, and Lluis Claret, and has studied conducting with Neil Thomson, John Farrer, Patrik Andersson and Gustaf Sjökvist, among others.
Simon plays a cello by Martin Stoss, on loan from the Järnåker Foundation since 2014.
