French-American clarinetist Johnny Teyssier was recently appointed principal clarinetist of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra after serving as principal clarinet of Malmö Symphony Orchestra and the Minnesota Opera Orchestra. He also serves as principal clarinetist of the Oregon Bach Festival Orchestra, and has been a guest principal in the Rotterdam Philharmonic among others. As a soloist, he has played recitals throughout the United States and Europe, and has played concertos with the Malmö Symphony, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Irish Chamber Orchestra, and the Hilton Head Symphony.
Johnny Teyssier is also passionate about chamber music, and is a founding member of the Sixth Floor Trio. Johnny began playing clarinet at the age of eleven, studying with Dwayne Van Wyhe, and attended the Interlochen Arts Academy as a student of Nathan Williams. At the age of seventeen, he was admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia where he studied with Donald Montanaro. In 2011, he completed an Artist Diploma at the Colburn School in Los Angeles, studying with Yehuda Gilad.
