Amelia Jakobsson begun her musical career as a cellist. As such, she is a winner of several competitions and reciepient of prizes and awards both in her native Sweden and abroad. Amongst them can be mentioned ”Young soloists”, ”Ljungrenska Competition”, ”Guido Vecchi Prize” and ”Concerto Competiton” in Canada. Amelia studied cello at Malmö Academy of Music, McGill University in Montreal, and did her debut from the Soloist class at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in 2010.

Her lifelong fascination for the human voice and opera, led to a gradual transition into becoming a singer herself. She has studied singing for Marina Shaguch, Badri Maisuradze in Moscow and for Britta Johansson. Amelia will begin her studies at the University College of Opera in Stockholm (OHS) in the fall of 2017.

Amelia has as a singer recieved ”Lasse Löndahls Prize (2013)”, ”Sparbanksstiftelsen kulturpris i musik 2013”, ”JAA stipendium 2014”, ”Torsten Tegstams stipendium 2014”, and is the winner of ”OVIS voice 2013”.

She sang the role of Micaela in Skånska Operan’s production of Carmen in the summer of 2015, and the same role in Guidooperas version of Bizets famous opera.

Amelia has performed as a singer in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland, France, Italy, USA and Algeria.
